Take one brand new Defender 90 County Station Wagon, the vision of Twisted's R&D team and some of the most exciting tuning and styling products on the market and you get Project Twisted, the most head-turning Land Rover ever created!

Taking the standard CSW from new and immediately running it on the rolling road, we got an idea of what we were working with. Interestingly, the performance figures matched the stated 129bhp for the TD5 Discovery rather than the 122bhp quoted as standard for the TD5 Defender. Peak power was attained at 81mph.

On the way home from the initial tests, the true nature of what we were doing dawned on Team Twisted. We had a perfectly acceptable vehicle - and we were going to give it the power to rival GTis, the looks to attract envious glances from Italian coupes and the wow factor that would make even the most over-the-top boy racer weep. It was time to go to work.
